American Union
The American Union is often called the North American Union. The idea is to join up Canada, the United States, and Mexico. There would be free trade amongst countries with the goal of having very little to zero border restrictions. You may have heard of the North American Union as NAFTA or North American Free Trade Agreement.
The goal of the union, according to the president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, is to make the standard of living equal amongst all nations and that eventually the borders will mean nothing. Mexico sees the opportunity as a means to boost their economy.
Like the Euro, the North American Union wants to have one money called the Amero and a superhighway that goes from Texas straight through to Canada.
Many US Senators have opposed NAFTA because they feel it is only in the best interests of the other countries.
